Building a brand as original as the idea behind it — Indian classical music for children.
ShrotaHouse was the first of its kind anywhere in the world: a platform dedicated to building enthusiastic, knowledgeable audiences for Indian classical music, starting with young children. IIM Bangalore incubated, Microsoft for Startups selected. The idea was exceptional. The brand wasn't keeping up.
The challenge with a category-defining brand is that there's no reference point. The brand needed to communicate something unfamiliar to parents — that classical music exposure for a young child isn't formal training, it's play — without losing the cultural weight that makes it credible.
We anchored the brand in joy before discipline. The word "shrota" means listener — and that's the identity: a child who listens with curiosity, not obligation. Brand architecture was built around exploration, exposure, and enthusiasm. Not performance. Not achievement.
The brand deliberately stepped back from the anxiety that surrounds classical music education and replaced it with something closer to wonder. Warm enough for a child's parent. Considered enough for a cultural institution.
