F&B D2C / Artisan Fermentary
Slow food, sharp brand. Building a fermentary for people who actually care what they eat.
Ground Up is a fermentary rooted in slow, intentional food — miso, vinegars, kimchi, koji. The challenge was building a D2C brand and content presence that could communicate that depth to a mainstream audience without dumbing it down or turning it into wellness marketing.
The risk with a brand like this is always the same: lean too hard into the craft and you lose the casual buyer. Lean too hard into accessibility and you lose the credibility that makes the product worth buying. Finding that line was the brief.
We built the brand around the maker, not the method. Gayatri's knowledge and conviction is the product's biggest asset — so the brand became an extension of how she thinks, not a wrapper around what she makes. Anchor line: "we trap flavour in time."
Content strategy was built around education as entertainment — teaching people what fermentation actually is, why it matters, and why Ground Up does it differently. GTM for the seaweed miso launch with Maritide was built as a campaign, not a product drop.
